Peninsula, Ohio Named 2012 Best Old House Neighborhoods: Small Towns
We’ve known for years what This Old House magazine is just now discovering - that Peninsula and the surrounding communities are wonderful places to live. TOH magazine hand-picked 17 small towns across America to highlight with the honor of Best Old House Neighborhoods 2012. The editors cite excellent local schools, close proximity to the 30,000 Cuyahoga Valley National Park, affordable yet well-crafted homes and proximity to both Akron and Cleveland as a few of the advantages to living here.

On Saturday, February 18, 2012, to a crowd in excess of 1,300 people at the annual Lincoln Day Dinner, Isaac Steinwedel, a student at Woodridge Intermediate School delivered an outstanding narration of Abraham Lincoln’s famous ‘cannots’. He was articulate, professional and presented himself in a manner that held his audience captive through the entire speech. We are so very proud of him. Isaac is another shining example of the excellent character that is found in our students.
HE IS WOODRIDGE!
Following are the Ten Cannots
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot help small men by tearing down big men.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.
You cannot help the poor man by destroying the rich.
You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot establish security on borrowed money.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away men’s initiative and independence.
You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should
do for themselves.
